On October 24th the Heartland Dragons U11 “A” thrilled their fans with an amazing start to their 2021-2022 hockey season. This past weekend the team participated in the 2021 West Mall Lightening Early Bird Tournament and brought home the first tournament championship for the Heartland Dragons U11 team by scorching their competition in true Dragon style! The Heartland Dragons U13 “A” kicked off their season with a roar by winning the Garden City 2021 Early Bird “A” Tournament. After 19 months without minor hockey due to COVID19,  15 Dragons returned to the ice for their first tournament of the 2021-2022 season.   Playing five games in less than 48 hours the team accumulated  27 goals and only allowed 7goals against, winning the championship game vs the Burlington Eagles 5-0.  Congratulations to this determined group of 12 year olds! Heartland Dragons Hall of Fame Civic Award of Recognition for Exemplary Volunteer Service with our deepest felt appreciation to all of our Volunteers!   Harrison Balick Two things which must be relayed about Harrison are his ability to mentor younger volunteers and his dedication to our special needs players. His easy manner, competitive spirit and good humour make him a favourite among the students who work together. He exemplifies a tremendous work ethic and personifies the value in volunteering. Our Midget Jr. A team traveled to Fort Erie Oct. 26-28 and came home with the championship trophy. Going undefeated over the weekend, the team won the Gold Medal game against the Coronation Bengals in a shoot-out after coming back from a 2-0 deficit. A great team effort with strong contributions from all players. Congrats Dragons!

The Heartland Dragons HD112 Midget Red squad competed in the Bradford Blue & Gold Tournament over the Nov 2-4 weekend. After dropping the first game 2-1, the boys bounced back with 3 straight convincing shutout wins that sent them to the final.  The Heartland boys played a solid Championship game winning the final in the 3rd overtime. The boys played strong all weekend outscoring their competitors 19-5 on the way to winning the tournament. Congrats to the boys, coaches and supporting families.
