The Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL) announced on October 3rd that all sanctioned activities
within its jurisdiction (which includes the Mississauga Hockey League and its 6 Area Association
partners) are postponed until at least January 1, 2021 pending further advice from health
authorities. The decision comes as a result of a rapid rise in the infection rate in the Greater
Toronto Area and in consultation with health authorities. Sanctioned activities include all on-ice
and off-ice activities for all levels of minor hockey, including house league and competitive
hockey in Markham, Mississauga, Toronto and Vaughan.

On October 13, the MHL and the 6 Area Association partners announced that all hockey activities for
the 2020-2021 season have been cancelled. Please see the full details of the announcement at our
website:

REFUNDS
All registered participants will remain registered. The Heartland Dragons will be refunding those
members who have paid registration fees/deposits. We have three options for you to choose from.

Option 1 – Apply towards the 2021-2022 season
We pay a significant fee for credit card transactions. Combining registration plus a refund
transaction, will impact our operating costs this season. To help us to avoid extra credit
card/bank fees, we would ask that you consider electing to apply any monies paid for the cancelled
season to be held on account towards registration fees for the 2021-2022 season.

Option 2 – Cash Pick Up
Pick up paid registration fee/deposit in cash at a date and time to be determined (most likely in
the next two weeks on a Saturday by appointment). We will provide further details once confirmed.

Option 3 – Etransfer
Receive paid registration fee/deposit via etransfer. Refunds will be processed in the order
received and expect payment within four to six weeks of sending your request for a refund.

Please email at info@heartlanddragons.com with your player’s full name and date of birth and which
Option you have chosen.

RELEASES
Your child does not require a release, unless you are moving to another sanctioned hockey program.
Sanctioned programs are those that are run in accordance with Hockey Canada/OHF approval, and
thus carry Hockey Canada insurance.

Unsanctioned hockey programs are run by private rinks/businesses (such as Canlan) and are not
covered under Hockey Canada insurance. We would advise you to carefully consider any hockey program
you are looking at, to ensure that you are comfortable with the insurance coverage offered and the
safety protocols being followed during this pandemic. Note, private training with a certified
instructor is allowed.

In addition, you as a parent have the opportunity to look at renting private ice times, or perhaps
may be contacted by a coach to participate in on ice training or some type of game league.

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT ANY ON ICE PARTICIPATION IN SUCH ACTIVITIES DOES NOT FALL UNDER THE TITLE OF
SANCTIONED ACTIVITIES, IS NOT AFFILIATED IN ANY WAY WITH HEARTLAND DRAGONS HOCKEY ASSOCIATION, THE
MISSISSAUGA HOCKEY LEAGUE, THE GREATER TORONTO HOCKEY LEAGUE AND DOES NOT CARRY HOCKEY CANADA
INSURANCE.

As of today, OHF Policy dictates that participation in an unsanctioned league after September 30
makes that participant ineligible to participate in sanctioned activities for the balance of the
season. We will update our membership if this date is changed.

We all miss our Dragons community and remain committed to keeping our players, parents, coaches and
other volunteers informed and engaged until hockey returns.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss this further please reach out.
