Due to COVID we are restricted with the numbers we are allowed on the ice and in the arena, so for evaluations, we will not be able to change evaluations times. For those that have requested to play on a team with a friend, we will do our best to accommodate all requests when we are assigning teams, but for evaluations, please come to your designated evaluation time.
Safety Protocols
In order to get back on the ice this year and remain on the ice, there will be some changes that we need to make to follow the City of Mississauga protocol, GTHL playing protocols and the Province of Ontario guidelines.
1) Limited Capacity in the Dressing Rooms – We are only allowed 9 players in a dressing room at a time, so we ask that the players come mostly dressed and just need to put on their skates in the dressing room and that once ready, you leave the room to allow other players to enter. ONLY 1 PARENT WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE DRESSING, NO EXCEPTIONS. We ask that you respect the guidelines.
2) Limited Capacity in the Arena’s – We are operating on reduced capacities in all arena’s, so we ask that only 1 or 2 parents accompany the player to the arena. We understand that this is a special time in your young players hockey life, and extended family are eager to come watch these future stars, but in order to keep the players playing on the ice, we ask for your cooperation in adhering to the capacity limits.
3) Limited Time in the Arena’s – We ask that you not enter the arena no more than 30 min prior to your start time and exit within 15 min after the end of your practice or game. Parents not attending to the player in the dressing room, should leave the arena immediately and meet the player outside of the arena.
4) Masks – All players and spectators are required to wear a mask while inside the facility. Players and coaches may remove their masks as they enter the ice surface. Coaches will be required to wear a mask on the bench.
5) Vaccination Policy – Players 11 and under are not required to be vaccinated to enter the arena or play hockey. All coaches and on ice volunteers, must be double vaccinated as of Oct 17, 2021, as per the GTHL Return to Play. All spectators over the age of 12, must provide proof of vaccination and valid ID in order to enter the City of Mississauga Arena.
After the evaluations are complete we will be organizing the teams over the coming week/weeks. Practices will be on Saturdays at 11:15, 12:15 or 1:15 in a rotating schedule. Games will commence November 20. Game times will be Sundays at 12:45 or 1:45. Oct 31, Nov 7 & 14 will be used for practices. The entire schedule will be available once the teams are divided.
We are looking for 6 volunteers to be the head coach of a JR Dragon team, as well as assistants and on ice volunteers. We will also need a safety rep for each team (does not require any on ice participation!). If you are interested, please make sure you talk to me at the rink on Saturday and feel free to bring your skates to help out at evaluations!
Looking forward to a SUPER FUN season on the ice!!
